There are many different Canoeing events taking place in 2010, ranging from weekend camps and expeditions to one-day activity days which accommodate a variety of abilities and experiences;

County Canoe Camp
21st-23rd May
Following on from the success of previous canoe camps we are running a similar event this year to train and assess BCU paddle power levels 1 -9 (equivelent to the old 1* & 2*). The camp is open to all Scouts, and Explorers and Leaders with limited canoeing experience. The camp will and costs £35 (late entries after 1st May will be £40). Places are limited so first come first served. All participants must be confident swimmers able to swim 50m in light clothing. Tuition is provided by qualified and experienced instructors and small groups of well behaved Scouts and Explorers need not be accompanied by a leader so please encourage anyone interested to come along.

Advanced County Kayak/Canoe Camp
25th-27th June
Following on from the success of previous advanced canoe camps we are running a similar event this year to train and assess BCU Canoe/Kayak Safety Test and 3* kayak (we may be able to do canoe on request depending on demand - please ask). The camp is open to all Explorers and Leaders who have completed BCU paddle-power or BCU 2*, or have comparable experience. Please read the 3* syllabus and try and learn as much as possible in advance. This will be a demanding weekend and participants will need to attend the whole weekend (including evenings) if they are to pass CST or 3*.
The camp will and costs £35 (late entries after 11th June will be £40).

Canoe Expedition
2nd-4th July
The Canoe Expedition is open to all enthusiastic Scouts and Explorers who can swim 50m in light clothing and are interested in taking part in a challenging self supporting overnight canoe expedition. The expedition may be suitable for counting as a Duke of Edinburgh expedition but please contact us in advance so we can ensure criteria are met. No previous canoeing experience is required but due to the committing nature of the event reasonable strength and fitness is required.

Note about water events: All water events have a limited number of places and are expected to get fully booked. Places will be allocated on a first come first served basis. If the event is not full at the time of closing, the remaining places will still be available but with a £5 late fee applied until a fortnight before the event.
The Moor House Office will act as a home contact for all events.
