ACC (Adult Support)

Can YOU Improve our Adult Volunteer Experience?

We are looking to recruit and retain more adult volunteers, so that we can deliver great scouting to even more young people. We're looking for someone to support the adult journey in scouting - the important processes of adult recruitment, appointment, mentoring, support and role review.

Who Are We?

Durham Scouts offers an adventurous, vibrant and busy programme for more than 6,000 young people aged 6-25 and exciting opportunities for more than 1,400 adults volunteers. We're looking to make our programmes as exciting, engaging and as much fun as possible - can you help us?

Who Are You?

The role of Assistant County Commissioner (Adult Support) is focused on helping our our Scout Districts to improve their adult recruitment and retention processes so that we even more adult volunteers join our growing movement and stay with us for longer. We're also looking to streamline our adult journey processes and make them even more efffective, so that all of our adult volunteers enjoy the same high level of support.

Most importantly, you will work well with other people and will have the ability to engage, inspire and manage others. You will be comfortable with the development and improvement of processes, have good digital skills and may well have a background in recruitment and experience in personnel / human resource management. Previous scouting experience is clearly an advantage but is not a prerequisite.

The ACC(Adult Support) will be responsible for sharing adult recruitment and retention process best practices across the county and for supporting the roll out of new adult support processes and practices being developed by the Scout Association. The ACC(Adult Support) will also work closely with the Deputy County Commissioner (Growth and Development) and the County Training Manager to help make adult training even more accessible, flexible and enjoyable.
