Are YOU Passionate about Diversity and Inclusion in Scouting?

We are looking to build our Diversity and Inclusion Team in the county, to ensure that our youth and adult members receive the best possible support in matters of Diversity and Inclusion.

Who Are We?

Durham Scouts offers an adventurous, vibrant and busy programme for more than 6,000 young people aged 6-25 and exciting opportunities for more than 1,400 adults volunteers. We're looking to make Durham Scouts as diverse and inclusive as possible - can you help us?

Who Are You?

The role of Assistant County Commissioner (Diversity and Inclusion) is varied, and encompasses all aspects of diversity - gender, sexual orientation, additional needs and disabilities, age, race and religion.

No previous experience of Scouting is necessary. You will likely be already experienced in some aspects of diversity and will be passionate about helping make Durham Scouts a fully inclusive organisation. You will be comfortable managing a team of like-minded people who have expertise in these areas and you will be happy to provide guidance and support on best practices to our adult leaders.

Support

The ACC(Diversity and Inclusion) manages and is supported by the County Diversity and Inclusion Team (Scout Active Support Unit). These individuals are experienced in various aspects of diversity and inclusion and provide practical support to our adult leaders.

Additional support is available from the a team of HQ Specialist Advisers who are able to provide guidance on resources covering a wide range of diversity and inclusion topics and specialist help is never more than an email away.
