DCC (Youth Programme)

Can YOU Lead Us in Delivering High Quality Youth Programmes?

We are a movement - for the last 113 years we have adapted and changed, developed and grown. Our programmes change with the times while we retain the values of our traditions. As we return from Scouting from Home to face-to-face Scouting, high quality youth programmes have never been more important.

Who Are We?

Durham Scouts offers an adventurous, vibrant and busy programme for more than 6,000 young people aged 6-25 and exciting opportunities for more than 1,800 adults volunteers. In our twelfth decade we're looking to ensure that every young person has access to high quality fun and adventurous youth programmes that deliver Skills for Life - can you help us?

Who Are You?

You will have management experience and/or capability, and will be passionate about giving young people the best possible opportunity to develop Skills for Life, to support their resilience and support their ambitions. You will be a great team player, capable of leading and managing, supporting and inspiring other volunteers. You will have the time to devote to the role (but the hours are flexible) and have the ability to travel around the scout county. You may have have no previous Scouting experience, but may have suitable skills and experience from other roles, or you might be a Scouter looking for a change of role.

Support

The Deputy County Commissioner (Youth Programme) is part of the scout county Senior Leadership Team along with the County Commissioner and other Deputy County Commissioners. You will be supported by the County Commissioner and other Deputy County Commissioners as well as the Scout Association's Programme Team, with whom you will work closely as we role out the Programme pillar of the Skills for Life Strategy. Most importantly, you will be part of a values-based team who work together to help everyone to achieve their goals.
