Durham Scouts are growing and have more adult volunteers than at any time in recent years, but we want to further improve the quality of our financial management and governance.

Who Are We?

Durham County Scouts is a Scout County operating in the North-East Region of England with over 6,000 youth members and 1,300 adult leaders.

We operate across County Durham, Gateshead, South Tyneside, Sunderland and Darlington, supporting the delivery of Scouting in 104 Groups, 36 Explorer Scout Units and District based Scout Networks.

Who Are You?

We’re looking for new members for our Finance Management Board, to help manage our finances, ensure compliance with Scout Association and Charity Commission finance/accounting rules and good practices and to help raise funding for development in the Scout County. You may have the necessary financial or accounting background, may understand financial risk management and investments, may have a background in charity fund raising or perhaps you want to develop skills in one or more of these areas. No previous Scouting experience is necessary and it is not required for all members of the Finance Management Board to be trustees or members of the Scout Association.

Support

The Finance Management Board is chaired by a trustee member of the County Executive Committee. Support and guidance is available from the County Executive Committee (the County Treasurer, Chair and County Commissioner are all ex-officio members of the Finance Management Board), and support is also available from NCVO and Scout Association headquarters.
