A Busy Summer – What’s Next?

26 September 2018

As you'll hear in my latest video blog from the climbing tower at Moor House, it's been a really busy summer and I've had a great time getting out and about, sharing experiences and meeting up with people - especially some of our great youth members.

Thanks to those of you who came to the County Annual General Meeting earlier in September - if you haven't seen it yet there's a copy of the 2017-18 Annual Report and Accounts here on the county website.

Feedback on the County Awards Day was very positive with parents, leaders and our young people telling us again how well organised and executed the day was and how special it felt to have our young people's achievements recognised by such a high profile event. If you haven't seen them yet you can see all the photographs on the county Flickr account and you can also watch a video of the last session on the county YouTube account (the Events team did a great job streaming this year's event, complete with live video, slides and a special appearance from Italy!)

We're now back into the swing of things again and all sections are now meeting. For me that means thinking about the "Skills for Life" strategy and starting to think about implementing our new County Development / Action Plan.

Over the coming weeks I'll be keeping everyone up to date as we implement the new county development plan and I'll also be reminding you what you should be doing to implement the "Skills for Life" strategy locally. However, we shouldn't forget how important it is to balance our national strategy against the needs of our local priorities and it's important to remember that the new strategy is a marathon and not a sprint and that we have five years to get everything done.

Remember, as I was so lucky to do this summer, always make the time to enjoy your Scouting and remember that Scouting should always be fun.
