Beaver Picnic and Pitch Up 2024

Join us for a day of adventure and the famous Beaver Picnic on Saturday 6th July 2024 at Moor House. Get ready to enjoy a space themed day of activities. And after success in 2022, why not camp on the Saturday night at our pitch up?

What's happening?

We'll be once again brining together a great range of activities to try. Along with a host of external activities, we've also got a great line up of all the classics including crate stacking, bouncy castles, the toboggan run and lots of group provided activities as well. This is how the day will shape up:

  • 08:00-09:00        - Leaders can arrive onsite, check-in and setup bases
  • 09:30-10:45        - Beavers arrive onsite and check-in (we'll allocate you an arrival time)
  • 11:00-13:00        - Activities running
  • 13:00-13:30        - Beaver Picnic
  • 13:30-15:45        - Activities running
  • 15:45-16:15        - Closing Ceremony with campfire, songs and prize giving
  • 16:15-16:30        - Colonies re-group, and get the Beavers ready to leave
  • 16:30-17:30        - Beavers and Leaders start to leave site (we'll allocate you a departure time)
  • 16:45-17:30        - Leaders pack up tents, bases, tidy up and leave site

001The cost is just £10 and includes all activities, a badge and unlimited drinks. The Beavers will need to bring a packed lunch as this isn't included in the cost.

We are asking every group to provide an activity for the day, which other Beavers can take part in - we'll ask you when you book what you can bring. Be creative and come up with your best 'In Space' inspired idea!

We're also encouraging all groups to make a banner for their group which you can display at your base. The best one will even win a prize!

Pitch Up - Saturday night

Following the success of 2022, we're once again giving you the opportunity to camp at Moor House after the Beaver Picnic. We've got 250 places up for grabs so that you and your group can continue the fun and camp overnight. Places are £5 per Beaver

It'll be up to you to provide the tents, food for meals and cooking facilities but we'll put on a campfire for everyone to enjoy. Also note that each colony must have a Nights Away Permit holder and that a Nights Away Notification must be submitted to your District Commissioner/Lead Volunteer. If you are using the Pitch Up to be assessed for a Nights Away Permit please make your own arrangements for assessment with a Night's Away Assessor.

How to book

Bookings are open and close on the 21 June at 5pm, or earlier if the maximum capacity is reached.


We're looking for a enthusiastic team of volunteers to help us during the day. If you're not coming with a group, we'd love to hear from you!

Join us for the whole weekend and we'll provide food from Saturday lunch to Sunday breakfast for £10. Or join just for Saturday and bring your own packed lunch.
