County Development Conference

DSC Development Conference 600 x 200

District Commissioners, District Chairs, District Youth Commissioners and other selected members of our 14 scout districts are invited to join the Regional Commissioner, County Commissioner, the county team and members of the county executive committee for a county development conference on 2nd June 2018, to be held at Durham County Cricket Club (Emirates Riverside Stadium).

The purpose of the day is to finalise the county development plan which will guide the growth and development of scouting in Durham Scout County from 2018 to 2023. Feeding into this plan are:

  • The new 'Beyond 2018' National Strategy, which will be approved and released in full in May 2018
  • The Moor House Adventure Centre development plan (phase one is complete, and phase two of three phases is just starting)
  • The draft development ideas generated by the County Team
  • Most importantly, the development plans of our 14 districts (the county development plan will be focused on supporting, growing and developing local scouting)

In a full day, we will cover:

  • A review of growth and development in the county and districts between 2012 and 2018
  • An overview of the Moor House Development Plan and a chance to provide feedback
  • A presentation of the results of the latest Satisfaction Survey Results and the County Team's draft development objectives
  • Identification of district development priorities (taken from district development plans, where available) and how they relate to national and county development ideas
  • A chance to discuss growth and development with neighbouring districts
  • A chance to float 'blue sky' ideas (where would we like to be by 2023)

Members of the Regional Services Team (RST) will then collate the output of the day into a draft county development plan, which will be finalised, owned and managed by the county executive committee.

E-mails will be sent to District Commissioners, District Chairs and District Youth Commissioners, inviting them to register their attendees via EventBrite
