Diversity and Inclusion Workshops

The county Diversity and Inclusion Team are pleased to announce that we are holding a day of diversity and inclusion workshops on Saturday 13th April at Moor House, supported by the North East Autism Society and members of the HQ team of specialist advisers.

As well as providing an overview of the Scout Association's Equal Opportunities Policy and how to obtain support on diversity and inclusion issues, based upon feedback from our membership we will be including a series of workshops on topics that our members tell us are most important to them, including:

  • Making Reasonable Adjustments
  • Autism - the basics and best practice in Scouting
  • Mental Health Awareness and Support
  • LGBT+ Awareness and Support

The day will help leaders understand what we should, could and do not have to do when making Scouting fully inclusive and diverse, and there will also be plenty of opportunities to ask questions and to discuss specific matters with members of the county Diversity and Inclusion Team and members of the HQ Special Advisers Team. This is your chance to share best practice, addresses any concerns that you might have and make your scouting as inclusive and diverse as possible.

Attendance at the workshops will allow members to easily complete the Module 7 "Scouting for All" workbook and proceed to validate the module.

Details are as follows:

  • Location: Moor House Adventure Centre
  • Date: Saturday 13th April 2019
  • Time: 10am to 4pm
  • Lunch: Please bring your own packed lunch (hot and cold drinks will be provided throughout the day)
