Volunteer Recruitment

How YOU Can Help

Have YOU ever considered volunteering with the Scouts?

Recent research has shown that the majority of our volunteers report having improved life satisfaction and improved self-esteem since beginning volunteer work, as well as having reduced feelings of loneliness and stress. Nearly two thirds  also said that since beginning volunteer work they have developed useful employability skills; with a majority saying they feel more confident and more motivated in their jobs.

There's the satisfaction of knowing that you are truly helping our young people to develop Skills for Life and - perhaps most importantly - it's a lot fun!

Not everyone has to volunteer to run a youth section and we have plenty of jobs that you can do in your spare time which will really help us to make a difference in the lives of our young people and which you'll find equally as satisfying. If you'd like to know more about how YOU could support Scouting in Durham, just email us on info@durhamscouts.org.uk or check our volunteering site.

BUILD Adult Recruitment Campaign

In 2019, Durham Scouts launched a recruitment drive for adult volunteers - more adult volunteers are essential to help us BUILD Skills for Life for our youth members as we look to continue our growth by delivering high quality programmes to even more young people in the communities of Gateshead, South Tyneside, Sunderland, Darlington and County Durham.

The BUILD campaign combines a targeted media campaign using social media, local radio and press with the efforts of our local volunteers, to identify what jobs our new volunteers can help with and to engage potential local volunteers by asking them to try Scouting for a few weeks.

We have developed some new resources, tips and tricks on adult recruitment to help engage with potential new volunteers but you should also check out the Adult Recruitment Resources page to access existing resources from the Scout Association
