Jamboree Camps and Communications

21 January 2018

I've had another busy weekend again - a District Development session in Derwentside and  other meetings on Saturday, and visiting two Jamboree Unit camps and the latest Introduction to the Duke of Edinburgh's Award training today (Sunday).

Thanks to everyone who came to the Derwentside development session and especially those who have volunteered to help with some of the actions that will make good scouting in the district even better. Thanks also to all those leaders who attended the DofE Introduction course - and continue to deliver top awards to our Explorer Scouts and Scout Network members.

In this week's video (from a snowy village in the North Yorkshire Moors National Park) I talk about our two Jamboree Units who are starting the planning and preparation for the 2019 World Scout Jamboree, and I talk about communications, which is always an interesting topic in scouting.

In the video I refer to some 'tips and tricks' on ensuring that you receive communications from the scout county - to make sure that our leaders and young people know what's going on and don't miss out on opportunities for training, selection, activities and events. You can find those tips and tricks on the county website on our 'Hear From Us' page. Please do make sure that all our volunteers in your section, group and district know about them.

The next time you hear someone say that they didn't receive information from the county, please point them to this information so that we can ensure that as many people as possible know what's going on.
