... Can Manage the Roll Out of Early Years Provision for Durham Scouts? Assistant County Commissioner (Early Years / Squirrels) [Project Manager]

Closes end February 2020

Our Early Years project lead will set up and manage Project ‘DREY’ - Durham’s Rollout of Early Years - to support groups and districts with the establishment of our Early Years section enabling membership of our movement to all 4 to 6 year olds as Squirrels. Further information about the early years section and pilots can be found at: www.scouts.org.uk/about-us/strategy/our-pillars-of-work/early-years/

Although the section is not yet approved by HQ to run outside of the pilots that have taken place, the section has been approved in principle subject to suitable timescales being put in place and with the right support. This has been delayed due to Covid-19 but will happen at some point in the future. The purpose of the project is to help groups and districts ‘be prepared’ to establish this new section at their own pace and based upon current resources available to them when we are given the ‘green light’.

We are in no rush to start implementing until volunteers feel prepared and comfortable with operating this new programme. We are looking for someone to become our ‘local’ expert of all things Early Years to lead, support and develop the way we implement this new section when the time is right.
