Grants for Scouting in Durham

There are a number of external grants available and grants are also available from the scout county, to support local scouting and participation in defined events and activities.

Our own grants are:

  • County Commissioner's Fund - to assist those in adverse financial circumstances to participate in scouting (up to 50% funding, up to £250 per person per year)
  • International Fund - to provide financial support for those taking part in defined international opportunities
  • Development Grants - to fund your 'Bright Ideas', intended to support the development of local Scouting (loans and grants available for various development ideas)
  • Travel Grants - to help cover the costs of travel to and from events in the UK (the Testimonial Fund)

Interest free loans are also available through a loan facility provided by The William Leech Charity. Note that the awarding of such county grants and loans may be dependent upon members also applying to the Scout Association for grant funding, details of which can be found at scouts.org.uk/grants

We can also help Groups / Units to access external funding through the work of our county fundraiser.

To make things simple, we now have just one form to fill in, which you can use to apply for support with external fundraising and/or support from county funds. You can access the Funding Support Request Form HERE

The following document will help you to complete the form. It explains what information you will need to provide and why we ask for this information, and provides some tips and tricks on fundraising.
