The Moor House Management Board (MHMB) is accountable for the overall strategy, management and operations of the Moor House Adventure Centre. The group is authorised by the Durham Scout County Executive Committee to manage the Centre in the best interests of the Scout County.

Purpose of the Centre

Moor House Adventure Centre provides high quality, high value and safe adventurous activities. Its purpose is to support Durham Scouts by:

  1. Providing high quality, affordable and accessible adventurous activities to members of Durham Scouts. It finds innovative ways to support the 2018 vision, helps train and develop young people & adult volunteers, and help its volunteers in changing the lives’ of young people.
  2. Generating profit through the provision of activities to external customers, which supports making activities for Durham Scouts more affordable and/or returns a cash surplus to Durham Scouts for use in the development of Scouting.
  3. Where possible and appropriate, promotes Scouting and the difference it makes in its communities to external customers.

The MHMB are currently focused on delivering some key projects:

  • Launching the Scout Led Adventurous Activities Framework
  • Improving our Safe Operating Procedures
  • Defining our KPI's and Targets
  • Improving the estate's facilities
  • Putting in place HR policies and proceedures
  • Defining a development plan for the next 5 years
