Testimonial Fund

Grants for UK Travel

The County Testimonial Fund is a restricted fund which represents funds available to persons aged between 6 and 17 years of age in scouting, to help towards travelling costs to a scouting event held within the United Kingdom.

Funding support is therefore available to help with travel costs to and from scouting events and activities held within the UK for:

  • Individual beaver scouts, cub scouts, scouts and explorer scouts
  • Beaver colony, cub pack, scout troop and scout groups events
  • Explorer Scout Unit and District Explorer Scout events

It is expected that an application for funding support will also have been made (or will be made) to the Scout Association Grants Committee (see grants to support members in financial hardship to take part in Scouting), and similar criteria will be applied when considering requests for grants from the Testimonial Fund. Grants of up to 50% of travelling costs will usually be considered.

Applications may be submitted to the County Finance Management Board via the County Commissioner via email (cc@durhamscouts.org.uk), providing

  • Details of the event and it's role in supporting the completion of top awards
  • The financial circumstances of the individual, section, group, unit or district and why support is needed from the scout county
  • What other funding support has been obtained or applied for from the Scout Association Grants Committee, the Group or District, or other sources
